Eating in Brixton Market

The once derelict and dodgy end of Brixton market has been given a new lease of life. In 2010 Space Makers and Lambeth Council offered 3 month’s free rent to artists, designers and culinary creatives and the effect is extraordinary.

The success of this project has brought an empty corner of the Market alive with colour and bustle. Below are some cafes and restaurants that benefited from the project and are now selling some delicacies in the market.

Federation Coffee is situated at Unit 46 in Brixton Village and run by two friendly Kiwis, serves sensationally good coffee.

The café currently use the ‘East’ blend of coffee roasted by Nude Espresso in East London, but they’re looking to set up their own coffee roasters soon.

They’ve also got a wide range of single origin filter coffees from far-flung places like El Salvador, Brazil, and the Harrar and Sidamo regions of Ethiopia.
